
The bar was emptying out, leaving only the smell of expensive drinks and the low hum of the cooling fans. She sat at the corner of the mahogany bar, swirling the amber liquid in her glass. She wasn’t looking for anyone...until he walked in.
He didn't look like the usual late-night crowd. He wore a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing forearms that suggested he spent more time in a gym than an office. When his eyes met hers, they weren't glowing with an eerie light; they were just a deep, piercing blue that seemed to see right through her defenses.
